.Warns against extortion in its franchise

The Management of Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), has reiterated that its meters under the on-going zero phase is free and should not be bought by its customers.

According to a statement, the metering drive initiative being pursued by KEDCO and Federal Government is a conscious strategy to end estimated billing, hence it is free.

“We are herewith informing all our customers that metering in any household under our franchise remain free; as such no one should pay anybody for installations”.

The company urged customers in it’s franchise area to report anyone, including KEDCO staff that insists on payment for meter installation to the nearest KEDCO office or any security agencies for necessary action.

“We also encourage all those who are rejecting meters in any way to desist from such as metering for us in KEDCO is the way forward to ending estimated billing, while helping consumers to monitor their energy consumption”.
