TCN restores power supply after Katampe substation fire incident

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) said it has restored power supply to all affected areas after the fire incident on 60MVA 132/33kV transformers at the Katampe 132kV Substation.

TCN in a statement stated that at about 18:16hrs of 4th August, 2022, one of its 33kV feeders FCT in Katampe Substation, supplying the Life Camp axis shattered and in the process, tripped one of the 60MVA 132/33kV transformers at the Katampe 132kV Substation.

The two faulty equipment were promptly isolated to enable TCN supply bulk electricity through the other transformers in the substation.

“Power supply was restored to all areas affected by the incident at about 20:38hrs and TCN’s Maintenance crew has already been mobilized to repair the affected equipment. We hereby apologise for inconveniences caused by the incident”, it stated
