New NLNG Board Chairman Inaugurated

The newly appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nigeria LNG Limited hasformally assumed duty following a ceremony at the Corporate Head Office of the Companyin Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The event was witnessed by Managing Director of the Company, Tony Attah, Deputy Managing Director, Mr. Sadeeq Mai-Bornu, General Counsel/Company Secretary, Mr. Aka Nwokedi, amongst others.

At the occasion, the outgoing Chairman, Chief (Dr.) Osobonye R. LongJohn, handed over toDr. Edmund M. Daukoru after the conclusion of normal Board protocols and processes to facilitate the formal appointment and consequent handover process between the outgoingChairman and the incoming one.

Dr Daukoru is a former Minister of State for Energy and former Secretary General of the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).

Also joining the Board as Directors are Engr. Henry Ikem Obih and Dr. Rabiu Suleiman whotook over from outgoing Directors, Chief (Mrs.) Cordelia Agboti and Ambassador Bagudu Hirse. Engr. Ikem Obih is a former Group Executive Director/Chief Operating Officer, Downstream, at the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) while Dr. Rabiu wasalso formerly Group Executive Director at the Corporation and Senior Technical Adviser to Honorable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources on Gas, Power, Refinery and Downstream Infrastructure.

Reacting to the allegation captioned: "How govt officials facilitated $1.2bn crude oil, gas theft – Source.", Odey described the report as false, malicious, saying that  from the commencement of its operations in October 1999, NLNG has never, and does not, engage in “illegal” exportation of LNG or any of its products, nor is NLNG involved in any international cartel, as alleged.
